Tailoring YOUR Insurance electrical toolkit

Policy features you can include in your electricians’ policy as standard

  • Public and Products Liability

This will cover you against being sued for injuring third parties or causing damage to third party property when you are working.

Products liability can be combined with public liability. Adding products liability to your insurance would protect you against claims arising from using defective products or applying them in a negligent way which caused injury to your client.

YOUR Insurance offers £2m Public and Products Liability cover as standard for electricians and electrical contractors. We also provide higher limits of £5m and £10m as policy extensions.

  • Professional Indemnity

Professional indemnity is a vital insurance to provide financial protection against legal action if there are any errors or omissions in your advice leading to an alleged financial loss for your clients. Potential risks professional indemnity insurance could protect you from include:

    • Negligence
    • Defamation
    • Accidental breach of confidentiality
    • Dishonesty
      Loss of professional data
    • Intellectual property infringement

YOUR Insurance offers a £100k limit on Professional Indemnity cover for electricians or electrical contractors as standard or up to £5m limit as a cover add-on. Please note the higher limits are subject to Underwriters approval.

  • Commercial Legal

Commercial legal cover will help you defend your legal rights. As an electrician or electrical contractor, we can provide you with Commercial legal cover up to £100k, which includes: employment disputes, taxation proceedings, jury service allowance and contractual disputes.

  • Incidental Efficacy

Efficacy cover protects you against legal liability as a result of a product or service you provided, which failed to perform as and when intended. The limit of incidental efficacy cover provided to electricians and electrical contractors by YOUR Insurance is £100k.

The cover is subject to no more than 15% of the businesses turnover being directly attributed to the design, advice, installation, maintenance and repair of Theft or Fire Protection Devices. Higher limits with no restrictions on the percentage of the businesses turnover are available for an additional premium.

  • Financial Loss

Financial Loss cover protects you from pecuniary loss cost or expense which was not caused by injury or physical loss, pollution or contamination. We offer £50k limit to electricians or electrical contractors. Depending on circumstances, additional efficacy cover is included for financial loss.

  • Jury Service

Being called for jury service is an event no-one can predict. Your civic duty can turn into your worst nightmare if you have jobs worth thousands of pounds scheduled to take place at the same time as your jury service. Jury service cover can protect you against such risk and keep your business going. YOUR Insurance offers £1k limit to electricians or electrical contractors.

You might have acquired the tools of your trade slowly over time, but have you considered just how much it would cost to replace them all if they are stolen?
